Bush gives OK for attack on Iran: Take Action Today !


Recent news makes it clear why it is more important than ever that we take to the streets on August 2. According to press reports, President Bush has given the Israeli military the go-ahead to prepare for an imminent attack on Iran . Israel is also using U.S. bases in Iraq to prepare for the attack.The British Sunday Times of July 13, 2008 reported:
“Despite the opposition of his own generals and widespread skepticism that America is ready to risk the military, political and economic consequences of an airborne strike on Iran , the president has given an “amber light” to an Israeli plan to attack Iran ’s main nuclear sites with long-range bombing sorties, the official told The Sunday Times.
“Amber means get on with your preparations, stand by for immediate attack and tell us when you’re ready,” the official said.
The Jerusalem Post of July 13, 2008 reported:
“On Friday, sources in the Iraqi Defense Ministry told a local news network that IAF war planes were practicing in Iraqi airspace were landing on US airbases in the country as a preparation for a potential strike on Iran .”
Once again the most powerful forces of US corporate power – the military-industrial-petroleum complex -are using Israel as their proxy to threaten war on surrounding countries in the region. Israel is armed, financed, and politically and diplomatically supported by Washington . It can not act on its own or without explicit permission from Washington . U.S. tax dollars finance Israel wars against surrounding nations, and Israeli repression of the Palestinians, to keep the area “safe” for U.S. oil companies.
This is why it is vital to link the struggle against the war in Iraq and a potential war against Iran with the struggle of the Palestinian people for the right to return.
At the same time Washington is giving the Israeli military a go-ahead to bomb Iran , the U.S. Congress is moving ahead to escalate tensions in the region and possibly provoke an incident that would justify U.S. military action. House Resolution 362 and Senate Resolution 580 both require that the President begin blockade of Iran .
The House Resolution “demands” that the President impose “stringent inspection requirements on all persons, vehicles, ships, planes, trains, and cargo entering or departing Iran .” Enforcing this would require a U.S. Naval blockade of the Straits of Hormuz, which is an act of war according to international law. Approximately one-fourth of the world’s oil, including that from Iran , Iraq , Saudi Arabia , Kuwait , Qatar and Bahrain , pass through the Straits of Hormuz, which is 21 miles across at its narrowest point (the shipping channel is less than 2 miles wide).
These two resolutions have received widespread bipartisan support from members of both Houses, and are expected to pass without debate or vote. A staffer in House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's office said that once the Resolution hits the floor, it will "pass like a hot knife through butter." Some have speculated that the bill will be put on the floor under suspension — meaning that it will pass without even a vote.
Both resolutions accuse Iran of developing nuclear weapons, despite the fact that Washington ’s National Intelligence Estimate report last December that made it clear that every major U.S. intelligence agency believes that Iran does not have a nuclear weapons program.
Nor do the resolutions refer to the real nuclear threat in the region – the U.S. , which is the only country that has used nuclear weapons and currently has a massive nuclear-armed naval armada in the region. It also does not mention the apartheid settler state of Israel , which is thought to have more than 200 nuclear weapons.
At the same time, two leading Senators announced on Tuesday, July 15, that they had reached a bipartisan agreement to expand economic sanctions targeting Iran . Sens. Christopher J. Dodd, D-Conn., chairman of the Senate Banking Committee and Richard Shelby, R-Ala., called Iran “a threat to U.S. interests.” Dodd, a former candidate for the Democratic nomination for President, said, “This bipartisan bill strengthens economic sanctions against Iran , and authorizes divestment from companies that do business with Iran 's key oil sector.”
Meanwhile, the U.S. is involved in “covert operations” – acts of terrorism – inside Iran . In the July 7 New Yorker, Seymour Hersh revealed that Congress has approved $400 million to fund covert operations in Iran . These operations include: providing support to armed groups opposed to the Iranian government, kidnapping members of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards and taking them across the border to Iraq for interrogation, the manipulation of Iran ’s currency, and other acts intended to destabilize the regime. Hersh reports that these types of operations have been ongoing at least since last year, but the recent Congressional appropriation signals a significant expansion of these actions.
It is clear that the Bush Administration is determined to push forward with its agenda of endless war to control the oil reserves of the Middle East . It is equally clear that members of Congress – both Democrats and Republicans – are collaborating with the Administration, just as they collaborated in authorizing and funding the invasion and occupation of Iraq .
It is imperative that progressive activists and organizations, particularly in the U.S. , mobilize to stop another brutal war, and to demand an end to the illegal sanctions and covert operations targeting Iran .
Stop War on Iran , an international grassroots campaign, issued an Emergency Call to for protests, marches, and other actions on the weekend of August 2. Response to the call has been enthusiastic, and local organizers are planning events in more than 50 cities, including Los Angeles, Tucson , San Diego, San Francisco, Denver, Atlanta, Chicago, Indianapolis, Baltimore, Boston, Detroit, Minneapolis, Jersey City, Albuquerque, Buffalo, New York City , Charlotte , Raleigh/Durham, Cleveland , Oklahoma City, Philadelphia , Houston, Salt Lake City , Virginia Beach, Washington DC , and more – an updated list is available at http://www.stopwaroniran.org/.

به بوش و کنگره آمریکا بگویید: دست از جنگ علیه ایران قبل از آغاز آن بردارند.
ریئس جمهور بوش ، معاون ریئس جمهور آقای "چی نی" ، وزیر امورخارجه خانم "رایس" ، وزیر دفاع آقای "رامسفلد " ، دبیر کل سازمان ملل، سناتورها ونمايندگان مجلس.
باعث بس نگرانی است که من شاهد تهدید روز افزون آمریکا به جنگ جدیدی – و این بار علیه مردم ایران – هستم.
وسایل ارتباط جمعی مملو از گزارش‌هايی است که ادعا دارند ایران خطری اتمی است و چنین وانمود می‌کنند که آمریکا نیاز به اقدامات نظامی علیه آن کشور دارد. این گزارش‌ها یادآور داستان‌های " سلاح‌های کشتار جمعی "است که در ماه‌های پیش از آغاز جنگ علیه عراق منتشر می‌گردیدند.
در آستانه تجاوز غیر قانونی به عراق ، دولت بوش اصرار می‌ورزید که عراق دارای انبارهای گسترده ای از سلاح‌های کشتار جمعی است و می‌تواند در طول ٤٥ دقیقه آمریکا را هدف سلاحهای هسته ای ، شیمیایی و بیولوژیک قرار دهد.
ریئس جمهور آقای بوش اظهار داشت که آمریکا مجبور به حمله بی‌درنگ بود و نمی توانست " منتظر مدرک نهایی – سلاح بکار برده شده – بماند که این خود ممکن بود بصورت ابر قارچ گونه ای ظاهر گردد." اکنون همه می دانند که این کارزار تبلیغاتی تماماً ساخته و پرداخته ای بود که برای توجیه جنگ تجاوزکارانه ای آفریده شده بود.
حالا نیز ما گزارش‌های کاملاً مشابهی را مشاهده می‌کنیم که برای توجیه عملیات نظامی علیه مردم ایران تهیه گردیده اند. ارجاع پرونده‌ي ِ ایران به شورای امینت سازمان ملل سرآغازی برای عملیات یک سویه نظامی است، همچون مورد عراق ، هیچ‌کدام از ادعاهای مطروحه دولت آمریکا تاب بررسی بی‌غرضانه ای را نمی آورند. ایران بالاتر و فراتر از آنچه که قرارداد منع گسترش سلاح‌های هسته ای (ان. پی . تی) ملزم میدارد، تا کنون به بازرسی‌های شدیداً مداخله گرانه و تحقیرآمیزی تن داده است. هیچ يک از بازرسی‌ها تا کنون شواهدی نیافته اند مبنی براین‌که ایران در حال تدارک یک برنامه هسته‌ای باشد. در جهان تنها یک دولت است که از سلاحهای هسته ای علیه جمعیت غیر نظامی استفاده‌كرده‌است. این همان دولتی است که در عرصه کره خاک بزرگ‌ترین انبارهای سلاحهای کشتار جمعی را در اختیار دارد. خطرناکترین و باورنكردني‌ترین و ضعیت این‌ست که این کشور در همین لحظه کنونی مشغول رشد نسل جدیدی از سلاحهای هسته ای تاکتیکی نه فقط برای تهدید است؛ بلکه قصد استفاده از آنان را دارد و آن کشور، همانا، ایالات متحده است. آیا بحث واقعی پیرامون خطرات سلاح‌های هسته ای نباید شامل تاریخ تجاوزات و مداخلات ایالات متحده و سلاح‌هایی شود که پنتاگون در مقیاس وسیعی انباشته است؟
فراموش نباید کرد كه ایران ستم‌های فراوانی از دست ایالات متحده دیده است. ما به خاطر داریم که چگونه ایلات متحده دولت دکتر محمّد مصدّق را ، که به شیوه دمکراتیک انتخاب شده بود، واژگون کرده و شاه را بر تخت طاووس برگرداند که از دستاوردهای پر افتخار سازمان جاسوسی سیا (CIA) محسوب شده است. قبل از آن‌که مردم ایران در ابعاد میلیونی، حکومت ظالمانه شاه را به بهای گزاف جان مردم، سرنگون سازند، شاه به مدت ٢٥ سال برای حفظ منابع شرکتهای سهامی نفتی با مشت آهنین بر ایران حکومت کرد. طی ٢٧ سال گذشته تحریمهای اقتصادی ایالات متحده حق پیشرفت را از ایران سلب کرده و ستمهای فراوانی بر مردم اين کشور روا داشته است.
اکنون ضرورت دارد که تمام صداهای مخالف ویرانگری یک جنگ جدید در خاورمیانه شنیده شوند. ما شدیداً خواستار قطع فوری کارزار تبلیغاتی واشنگتن در عرصه تحریمها ، خشونت گریها و اکاذیب علیه مردم ایران هستیم. ما مخالف هرگونه تجاوز جدید ایالات متحده علیه ایران هستیم. ما خواهان بودجه مالی برای پیشرفت و رفع احتیاجات انسانی هستیم و نه برای جنگ بی پایان امپراتوریِ ِ آمریکا.

Summary Substance: Zarathushtra opens a new chapter in his Divine Doctrine – Good and Evil, two important principles that have even perplexed the wise. To understand the problem, he keeps in view good mind and the approach to the problem through the Universal Law of Righteousness, of precision – two important points to solve the problem. And as usual, he has his praises for God, the guide who leads us by means of our good mind and righteousness to radiant happiness.


Hear the best with your ears
and ponder with a bright mind.
Then each man and woman, for his or her self,
select either of the [following] two.
Awaken to this Doctrine of ours
before the Great Event of Choice ushers in.
(Gathas: Song 3 - stanza 2)


Summary Substance: Freedom of choice is for all, men and women. Zarathushtra is about to expound his doctrine of good and evil. He wants every person to hear the best, not superfluous and superstitious sayings. Although the best, it must be studied with a clear mind and then the choice be made between the two. He recommends that before the great choice for the way of life is made, one should take into consideration the Divine Doctrine presented by him and his companions. The choice of good as presented by him would eventually mean choosing the Good Religion.

Pondering Points: Even the best sayings must be studied and that too clearly. Freedom of considerate choice is for all. Man and woman are equal. Zarathushtra does not force his Doctrine. He only proposes.


Answer 2: Yes and no.


Now, the two foremost mentalities,
known to be imaginary twins,
are the better and the bad
in thoughts, words, and deeds.
Of these the beneficent choose correctly,
but not so the maleficent.
(Gathas: Song 3 - stanza 3)


Summary Substance: Good and Evil are mentalities, not entities. The talk about their being twins is pure imagination. One is good, getting better day by day. It is the progressive good. The other is bad. Both are thought in mind and then translated into words and deeds. Beneficence leads one to choose good, and maleficence takes one towards evil.


Pondering Points: It is human mind which creates good thoughts, words and deeds or otherwise. Not mythical entities. Think good, get better. Think evil, see evil.
His doctrine is for guiding the humanity. He speaks, in almost all his Sublime Songs, of the Creator-Maintainer- Promoter Mazdâ Ahura, the Super-Intellect Being and the Good Creation, the Universe, the Cosmos. But when speaking about the "two mentalities" in Yasna 30 and 45, it is only the humanity, which is concerned with his/her "vahya -- better" or "spanya -- more progressive" mentality or "aka -- bad" or "angra -- retarding" mentality. While Zarathushtra uses, again and again, the compound "spenta mainyu," he does not have "angra mainyu" or "aka mainyu" as the opposite compound. His Dualism is ethical and not universal.
The Cosmic and Chaotic Dualism are well post-Gathic and have no place in Daênâ Vanguhi -- Good Consciousness, also known as Mazdayasna Zarathushtri -- Super-Intellect Revering Zoroastrian.
